LG OLEDC8P
Best picture we’ve ever tested
Editors’ Rating : 8.6 –
Design : 9 – Features : 10 – Performance : 10 – Value : 5 –
In our comparison tests this TV beat the image quality of the 2017 OLED TVs and the 2018 B8, but just barely. We haven’t tested every high-end TV yet, but among the ones we’ve seen, the C8 rules.

LG OLEDB8P series
Second-best TV we’ve ever tested
Editors’ Rating : 8.6 –
Design : 9 – Features : 10 – Performance : 10 – Value : 5 –
In our comparison this B8 fell ever-so-short of the C8 above, to the extent that we don’t think the C8 is worth the extra money. But the two were so close they both deserve a “10” in picture quality, and both outperform any of the LCDs below.

Best picture if you don’t want OLED
Editors’ Rating : 8.6 –
Design : 9 – Features : 10 – Performance : 10 – Value : 5 –
With searing light output and superb local dimming performance, the Samsung Q8F delivers excellent image quality in light and dark rooms alike, as well as excellent HDR. Slightly better overall than the TCL, and a lot more money.

TCL 6 series (2018 Roku TV)
Best picture for the price
Editors’ Rating : 8.6 –
Design : 9 – Features : 10 – Performance : 10 – Value : 5 –
No TV we’ve ever tested offers this much picture for this little cash. Thanks to its effective local dimming it’s on the same level as TVs that cost twice as much or more.

Sony XBR-X900F series
Balanced, accurate LCD picture
Editors’ Rating : 8.6 –
Design : 9 – Features : 10 – Performance : 10 – Value : 5 –
A tick worse overall than the P-Series, the TCL and Samsung because it has slightly worse black levels, the X900F still deserves a nod for its picture accuracy with both HDR and SDR, before and after calibration.

Vizio P-Series (2018)
Best picture for the money at 75 inches
Editors’ Rating : 8.6 –
Design : 9 – Features : 10 – Performance : 10 – Value : 5 –
The Vizio P-Series falls a bit short of the overall picture quality of the TCL at the 55- and 65-inch size. But if you want a wall-busting 75-inch set with an excellent image, it’s our favorite of the year.

Vizio M-Series (2018)
Second-best picture for the money
Editors’ Rating : 8.6 –
Design : 9 – Features : 10 – Performance : 10 – Value : 5 –
Aside from the TCL above, no TV offers this much picture for this little cash. Vizio’s affordable M is high-performance and well-equipped, and if you want a 70-inch size (which TCL doesn’t offer), it’s the best value this list.
